Clergy

The Rev. Dr. Brian K. Wilbert, a native of Elyria, Ohio, is a graduate of Kenyon College and Bexley Hall, which is part of the Colgate Rochester Divinity School. In 2002 he received a Doctor of Ministry degree in Congregational Development from the Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. Ordained in 1985, he served as Curate of St. Michael's Church in Toledo Ohio (1985-1988) and Rector of Grace Church in Ravenna, Ohio (1988-1996) before his call to be Rector of Christ Church.

He is particularly interested in worship, liturgy, and music and has been a violinist and church musician since he was a child. In addition to parish responsibilities, he shares leadership in the Diocese of Ohio most recently as a member of the Standing Committee and as a deputy to the 76th General Convention meeting in Anaheim, CA during the summer of 2009. He is also an active member of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship and a member of Integrity.

The Rector of all Oberlin and parts adjacent lives in the church rectory in Oberlin along with his Jack Russell Terrier, Viktor and his extended family which includes Yorki Encalada from Lima, Peru and 92 year old Cousin Beverly Wilbert.

The Rev. Nancy Roth, a native of New York, is a graduate of Oberlin College and the General Theological Seminary. Ordained in 1981, she served as Christian Education Consultant at Trinity Church, Wall Street, in New York City and as Program Coordinator at Holy Cross Monastery. Her ministry as a resource person in the area of spirituality draws on her background in the arts, particularly music and dance, and on her concern for environmental issues. She travels widely as a retreat conductor and workshop leader, and is the author of many books, including The Breath of God, An Invitation to Christian Yoga, Organic Prayer, Meditations for Choir Members, Praying: a Book for Children, and a series of meditations on hymn texts: A Closer Walk, Awake, my Soul, New Every Morning, and Praise my Soul. She and her husband co-edited We Sing of God: a Hymnal for Children and she has contributed hymn texts to Chatter with the Angels: an Illustrated Songbook for Children.

The Roths live in Oberlin, OH, where she serves as Assisting Priest at Christ Church, Oberlin and is an Affiliate Scholar at Oberlin College. The Roths have two grown children: Christopher, an organic gardener, environmentalist and writer, and Michael, a professional violinist.
