Time & Talent Volunteer Opportunities
Please contact the parish office if you can assist in any of these ministries:
- Acolyte
- Assists the priest during worship services. Training easily arranged.
- Altar Guild
- Prepares altar and church for worship, cleans after, and maintains items used for worship.
- Chalice Bearer
- Licensed by the bishop to administer the chalice during communion.
- Church School Teacher
- This is a much needed and rewarding ministry to teach (perhaps with a partner) one of several age groups or adults during the academic year.
- Coffee Hour Host
- Brings baked goods and sets up for the coffee hour that follows the late service. Scheduled about four times a year with spouse or a host-partner.
- Greeter
- Greets worshipers and newcomers as they leave church and at coffee hour.
- Healing Minister
- Assists priest with healing oil and prayer during communion.
- Intercessor
- Leads prayers of the people during worship services.
- Lay Eucharistic Visitor
- Licensed by the bishop to take communion to the ill or homebound.
- Lay Reader
- Licensed by the bishop to lead morning prayer Monday through Friday at 8:00 a.m. or worship on Sunday if a priest is unavailable.
- Lector
- Reads scripture verses during worship services.
- Mission Endowment Fund Board
- Board members are elected to three year terms and meet a few times a year to award grants to worthy local organizations.
- Music Ministry / Choir
- Provide voice or instrumental accompaniment during the late service or special services.
- Newcomer Ministry
- Connect with new members of the parish or offer to be a "host family" for an Oberlin College Student during their years here.
- Office & Newsletter Help
- The newsletter is assembled on the Friday morning before the last Sunday of each month and requires folding. Other office help is occasionally needed.
- Parish Life Commission
- Plans and sets up parish dinners, outings, and receptions.
- Pastoral Care Commission
- Respond to the special needs of an individual or family of the parish experiencing a crisis, providing material and non-material support.
- Properties Commission
- Oversees the management and repairs of the church properties.
- Property Helper
- Volunteers help maintain our grounds by mowing, shoveling walk paths, gardening, and making minor repairs according to their talents.
- Usher
- Hand out service leaflets and help worshipers to the altar rail for the Holy Eucharist.
- Vestry
- Vestry members are elected to terms of three years and meet once a month to oversee church business. The vestry is also responsible for depositing plate offerings.
- Worship Commission
- Plans special and regular services.
